Please wake up and do something
Doctors as a community are an army of generals, everyone gives his own views on how the battles should be fought. Government recognizes this and takes advantage of this and has taken over total control of the medical education as well as medical practice. We have lost the status of a profession and are now a trade providing services to the public. Those in Government service have to follow the Government dictat but even those in private sector have now been recruited to work probono for the Government under threat of cancellation of registration and penalties ranging from fine to jail term. Bonded labor abolished otherwise in the country is practiced rampantly and that too by the Government in healthcare.
The Government as an adversary can still be acceptable but what to do when the adversary is the lethargy and inertia of your own brethren who will not do anything. Doctors are their own worst enemies. We do not unite for opposing blatant illegalities and injustices heaped on us. We cannot come physically when a meeting is called, we cannot be bothered to attend protest marches, we cannot sit on dharnas.
My request to all doctors across India is "Please do not leave for our next generation a professional environment much worse than what we had when we joined this profession". We cannot physically be expected to leave our castles because heavens will fall but at the very least we can support those who are taking up cudgels on your behalf by financially contributing towards the cause.
MLAG has filed multiple writ petitions, PILs, SLPs in High Courts and Supreme courts so far. We have made multiple legally drafted representations to the Government on matters put in public domain by the Government. We are very active under RTI and collect information related to healthcare. Please help us financially so that we can continue to do what we have started. If you do not wish to contribute to MLAG please contribute to any other organization working in this field to improve the situation. But DO SOMETHING.
Those of you who have registered for the 9th MLAGCON we will see you on 12th February at Chandigarh.
