As part of his visit, Subhash Bhamre inaugurated the new building of Cantonment General Hospital, Agra and witnessed professional training activities of the Shatrujeet Brigade.
Raksha Rajya Mantri was later given a detailed briefing on the operational preparedness of the formation by Commander Shatrujeet during his visit to the Brigade Headquarters.
Subhash Bhamre also interacted with the paratroopers during a combat lunch organized by the Shatrujeet Brigade and appreciated the high morale of troops.
He expressed confidence in the combat capabilities and operational preparedness of the elite brigade which is capable of carrying out airborne operations and insertion behind enemy lines.
Praising the Modi government's initiative to bring affordable health services to the poorest of poor through the 'Ayushman Bharat' project, Bhamre said that the Modi government raised the budget on health services from 1% of the GDP to 2.5% of the GDP after it assumed power in the country.
Later, the minister inaugurated the new building of Cantonment General Hospital where the poor residents of the cantonment area will be able to get treatment on the latest machines free of cost.
The Agra Cantonment Board CEO M Venkat Narasimha Reddy told India Today that the hospital has been built with a cost of Rupees 10 crores and will benefit the residents of the Agra Cantonment.
The hospital is equipped with the latest CT scanning and other diagnostic instruments that will be available to the poorest of cantonment residents free of cost.
