The Union Health Ministry has submitted a report in the Rajya Sabha regarding the shortage of doctors in the country, according to which the responsibility of 1,445 people is only on the shoulders of an allopath doctor. The worst situation in North India is in Haryana. Here, an allopathy doctor has the responsibility of 6,287 people. While an allopathy doctor has been registered for 3,692 people in Uttar Pradesh, 1,631 in Uttarakhand, 778 in Punjab, 3,015 in Himachal Pradesh, 1,143 in Jammu and Kashmir and 1,252 in the national capital Delhi.
The doctors of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) medical system are combined with them, then there is only one doctor posted in the population of 1,812 people in Haryana, which is in the rest of the states of North India. Is the highest in comparison. According to the WHO, there should be one doctor per one thousand population. The government has differentiated the ratio of allopathy and AYUSH doctors. They believe that if both medical system doctors are merged, then the number of doctors is getting sufficient.
According to the report submitted by the Ministry on this matter, 11.59 lakh allopathy doctors are registered in the country but out of this only 9.27 lakh, doctors are treating patients in hospitals or clinics every day. As the country has a population of 1.35 billion, according to this, there is an allopathy doctor in the country with a population of 1,445 people. While the current 6.30 lakh AYUSH doctors in the country are also linked with allopathy, a doctor is deployed in India at 867 people. However, the Ministry also believes that the number of patients in the country is increasing every year. In such a situation, it is very important to increase the number of doctors under all medical practices.
